Colorado Springs Utilities says negotiations are nearing an end to award a contract for 150 megawatts of new solar generation in Southern Colorado as well as a new 25 megawatt battery storage system.
The storage would be the largest energy storage facility in Colorado, and in place by 2023.
Once all of these renewable energy projects are operational, more than 95,000 homes annually are expected to be powered by the carbon-free energy.
